Winter Field Day 2026

Winter Field Day January 24th & 25th The WGARS will be moving ahead with it's Winter Field Day operations. Due to the threat of hazardous weather and the kindness of the Carrollton Parks and Recreation Department we will be operating at the "Oak Mountain Pavilion." The Pavilion is located at 1840 Stripling Chapel Rd, Carrollton, GA 30116. This location is just down the road from the W4FWD repeater. A little bit about the Pavilion. Operation Talladega Signal - March 28, 2026

Big Oak Hunt Camp, Talladega National Forest was a GREAT Success - Thank you to all who came out and joined us us for a what is shaped up to be a very interesting day. “Operation Talladega Signal.” was a simulation of a lost/injured hiker on the Pinhoti Trail. WGARS obtained the blessing of both the US Forest Service and the Cleburne County Sheriffs department and will be setting up an incident command at the Big Oak Hunt Camp. West Georgia Amateur Radio Society

The West Georgia Amateur Radio Society serves Carroll, Haralson, Douglas, Heard, and Paulding Counties, but welcomes members from anywhere. Our mission is to promote amateur radio through community events, training, and fellowship among radio enthusiasts. Join us as we explore the fascinating world of amateur radio!

The club hosts a weekly net on 146.640 repeater on Monday nights at 8:00pm. All amateur radio operators are welcome to participate.

The Carroll County ARES group conducts a weekly net on Thursdays at 8:00pm. All amateur radio operators we welcome to participate.

WGARS, through the generosity of Tim Jones, operates on a standard FM repeater on 146.640mhz with a negative offset and a 131.8hz sub-audible tone.

We have a D-Star repeater operating on 145.400 with a negative offset. Its call sign is KN4PLO, and operates on Module A (often 2 meters is on "C", but will be "A" in our case).

We also operate a 440mhz repeater on 444.075+131.8.

The WGARS holds monthly meetings on the second Tuesday of each month
