Operation Talladega Signal - March 28, 2026

Big Oak Hunt Camp, Talladega National Forest was a GREAT Success -

Thank you to all who came out and joined us us for a what is shaped up to be a very interesting day. “Operation Talladega Signal.” was a simulation of a lost/injured hiker on the Pinhoti Trail. WGARS obtained the blessing of both the US Forest Service and the Cleburne County Sheriffs department and will be setting up an incident command at the Big Oak Hunt Camp. From this location teams were assigned for triangulation and extraction. The plan was to use 2 meters for communicating among ourselves, but we also had rigs capable of listening on the UHF FRS frequencies for the hiker.
